What sort of people do we recruit?
Our chemicals operations depend upon effective local implementation of global strategies. As a result, our people must have the ability to work across national and organisational boundaries, need excellent communication and intercultural skills, and must be open to new ideas and diverse perspectives.
We also look for people from a wide variety of disciplines who can deliver our business need to combine strong manufacturing capability with innovative technologies, socially responsible operations and development, and adaptive approaches to fast-changing and emerging markets.
What opportunities are there to develop a career?

Shell Chemicals offer a variety of development paths to suitably qualified people. Whether within your chosen discipline, across other disciplines, or across the wider Shell Group, we go out of our way to give our people the skills and tools they need to guide their own career. Shell Chemicals are large enough to offer an ideal opportunity to gain a complete understanding of the way in which a Shell business operates, but small enough to make sure that your contribution counts.
After a few years of structured development, all of our people are free to use the Open Resourcing system where all Shell jobs are posted. All graduate employees are given coaching and feedback on likely opportunities and when these may be expected to arise.
What sort of working environment is there?
The nature of our business - globally-coordinated products and processes managed within flat organisational structures - means that the ability to work in teams with others from different disciplines and nationalities is vital. It's also why we put such importance on encouraging diverse people, ideas and contributions.
We are committed to creating a diverse workplace, one which is open and inclusive, where people with diverse views feel free to share their ideas and perspectives on problems, and where all employees are prepared to show personal leadership and accountability.
