The Shell Chemicals Brake Fluids business is fully ISO/TS 16949 certified. The business successfully secured renewal of the certification in 2007 after gaining initial certification two and a half years earlier.

ISO/TS 16949 is a quality standard for suppliers of products to the automotive industry. It specifies the quality system that must be applied to the design, development and production of all automotive products. It is an indispensable quality standard for 1st tier suppliers to the automotive industry. Shell’s certificate encompasses all aspects of the business: product design, manufacturing and the whole product supply chain.
This standard is the first global quality specification to be developed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF). All North American and Western European car manufacturers participate in IATF and so have endorsed the new standard. While not yet members of the IATF, Japanese car makers have also been involved in the development of ISO/TS 16949.
Recognising that ISO/TS 16949 would become the industry standard, Shell Chemicals took the necessary steps to secure certification well ahead of the transition deadline of 2006, when the former QS9000 standard was superceded. Implementation and certification of the ISO/TS 16949 quality system is a key component in helping Shell Chemicals’ business aspirations – to provide top performing, cost effective brake fluid products and services worldwide.
